Some random recent projects of note

A gift for a teeny niece:

Some doll outfits I put together.  Apparently MIL has been getting requests for cheer outfits.  I hate doing things in some sort of void where I have to figure out how to do it, so I borrowed colors of some popular local teams:

Scavenger Hunt Quilt

All finished!  Not sure if I'm going to find a shop that hasn't had a winner, yet.  There's one I can still try, but not today.

Splitting it up to see it a little better,
the top half patterns, from left to right, come from Cary Quilting Company, Cary, NC; My Sewing Shoppe, Raleigh, NC; Loving Stitches, Fayetteville, NC; and Kathy's Quilt Shop, Titusville, FL.

The bottom half, from top to bottom comes from Thread Bear Fabrics, Cumming, GA; Thimble Pleasures, Chapel Hill, NC; Thread Waggle/APQC, Raleigh, NC; and Sew Happy, Clayton, NC

Another year, another Disney Trip to sew for.

I don't recall if I've posted pictures of all the stuff we wore for our 25th wedding anniversary.  The one I was particularly proud of is this one:
I embroidered Mickey Mouse near the hem of my skirt and Donald Duck onto husband's shirt pocket, and then sewed the rest of the garments in question.  Pretty epic, I felt.

For 2016, we are planning something of a family reunion during the first week of December.  If everyone makes it, we're looking at 25 people there all at once.  For this, I'm making everyone a black fleece jacket.  They're going to be pretty ordinary from the front:

But embellished on the back:

The mouse ear hat has the name embroidered on satin.  After embroidering the "2016 Magic" on the fabric of the back, the satin "hat" was appliqued over it.  I started with mine because they'll probably get better with time.

One down... twenty-four to go, all to be finished by November 28. One hundred and seventy days between now and then divided by twenty-four is about one per week.

October sewing projects

It's been a long, full year with lots of sewing, and most of it has been centered on Stache and his mom.  On Christmas Eve last year, they were in a car accident that broke both her legs and has had him in a couple of different braces.

In October, however, we didn't do a single bit of sewing for Stache.  It's festival season, and we spent a great deal of time sewing doll dresses for MIL to put in her booth:

None have sold yet; they're available on etsy at Sandy's Homemade Crafts.

As soon as those were done, I took the youngest two to Wal Mart to get fabric for costumes of their own.  After much negotiation, they settled upon Anna and Elsa from the Coronation scene in Frozen.  Walmart had most of the fabric at $2 per yard, so that was good, because I had to get hotfix crystal capability to do the embellishment properly.

And lastly, I finally got the middle two girls to decide upon outfits of their own.  Back to Wal Mart again for more of the $2/yard satin.  We spent a lot of time at UNC children's hospital this week, which took up a lot of my sewing time, but these two girls helped with the cutting and some of the simpler sewing techniques, and we were done by 2:30 in the afternoon.

Next up is some more doll outfits for one last festival booth this year.  The Hufflepuff Dalek turns 14 a week from tomorrow, so there will be sewing for that, too.  After that we have the Christmas sewing.  The list for that includes two blankets and two jackets that I know of.

Stache's Gran and Grandpa at 25 Years

Actually, it was the day before our anniversary.  Shirt and dress made from Jams World fabric; Mickey Mouse embroidered on skirt of dress and Donald Duck embroidered on shirt pocket.

Christmas Project #10

This is a bag for storing presents.

Husband and I found, long ago, that we needed a system for keeping track of which presents go to whom, so we bought fabric in different Christmas patterns and made a bag that's about a yard long and 22 inches wide. Each one has the intended recipient's name embroidered on the handles. This one is hard to read, but says "Stache," of course. The mustaches on the Santas are lovely.

Catching up with the Christmas Projects... #9

I finished this on "Friday," by which I mean I could have finished it on Friday but actually did it on Saturday.

It's a fleece quilt for the youngest. The pattern blocks are the Frozen princesses, and the alternating solid blocks have tiaras or snowflakes.
